Fran Aniello
Coach, Athletic Director
Inducted in 2014
Fran Aniello's involvement in Suffield High School athletics is long and extensive, as well as, multi-faceted.  He started coaching the boys varsity basketball team in 1977.  In his first three years, Fran's teams had a record of 52-19 on their way to two league titles and three NCCC championships.  From '83-'84 to the '86-'87 season, SHS went 91-16 with four more league titles and won the Class S State title in 1985.  During this stretch the team won 37 straight overall and 44 straight NCCC games.  In 2000 Fran won his 300th career game early in the season, and then his team went on to win his second State title with a 24-3 record.  Fran's last boys varsity hoop team was the 2004 squad.  In total, Aniello won 360 games, 9 league titles, 7 NCCC playoff titles and 2 State championships.

In addition to basketball, Fran coached girls soccer to their first league title ever and then he coached boys soccer and golf.  It should not come as a surprise then that Fran served a long term as SHS athletic director.  Fran did an outstanding job as AD, expanding the number of teams and opportunities for Suffield student-athletes.  Fran also developed a middle school athletic program.  For over three decades, SHS athletics were under the watchful eye and tremendous experience of Fran Aniello.

After he passed away in 2015, The Suffield Athletic Hall of Fame dedicated their annual golf Tournament to Fran's memory.
